Hop Year

Charlie - "So Mommy, tell me one more time - does hop year have one more day or less?"

Me - Huh? Oh, leap year.

Charlie - "Yeah, leap year."

Me - Ha. Hop year. One more day.  366.

Charlie - "Oh man.  One more day.  Does that mean I have to go to school for one more day? No fair."

Mullen-Hall Book Fair

This week is the Mullen-Hall Book Fair and oh does Charlie love books.  Must take after his Mommy.  Presently we are reading the first Harry Potter in the series - or as Charlie likes to say - Harry Potty.  One slip of the tongue on my part and the wonderful wizard is banished to the bathroom for all of eternity.

But that's not the book we have our eye on.  Wonderstruck.  That's the one.  It's from the man who wrote, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, a beautiful, spellbinding book that has recently been made into a movie by Scorsese, which we are also dying to see.  So many wants.

Wizard's Brew

Charlie was singing this song a few days ago:

I'm gonna stir stir
my wizard's brew

Cook it on the fire
the whole day through

I'm gonna stir stir
my wizard's brew

When I am through
I'll share with you

Presenting Halloween and the Skeleton Pirate

The Halloween Main Street Parade

Charlie, his teacher, his friends, and friends in his class.

Main Street Trick or Treat Stroll

It may have been a washout due to what is being called the October Noreaster but the shops made quite a display of it.  Here are some pictures I took of Halloweeny things, neither pumpkins nor scarecrows, on a stroll down Main Street before the Halloween Parade.

p.s. See the pepper plant in the planter?
